She wrote the book, "A Choice, Not An Echo" in preparation for the 1964 Presidential run of Barry Goldwater. It was the first election I really participated in and cared about. Phyllis was brilliant. Even Hillary Clinton had some political wisdom then, and was a Goldwater Girl, believe it or not.
"We" lost, of course, and Lyndon Johnson became President. Bad. But I digress.
Phyllis has been a staunch Conservative for all these years. Now, dear Phyllis Schlafly is supporting Donald Trump!
Immediately my Respect Gauge took a huge plunge. What in the world is she thinking? She's a Conservative, for heaven's sake! Donald simply is not. I could easily prove that, but I don't want to digress again.
Now she is channeling Donald (and Jeb and Chris and Ted) in firing at the target on Marco Rubio's back, with a LIE, as quoted in World Net Daily (http://www.wnd.com/2016/02/schlafly-unloads-on-rubio-he-betrayed-us-all/).
Now look, Rubio has some things in his record that are fair game for legitimate criticism. There is room for disagreement. And nobody is perfect.
But just as those candidates I mentioned are lying about Marco, Phyllis is joining in with a huge lie. And here it is:
"And now, of course, he’s big for amnesty and LETTING ALL THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IN."
Are you kidding me?! Has she even read his plan? Has she even read the Gang of 8 bill, which called for 700 miles of fencing and 20,000 extra border patrol agents?
I don't want to throw poor old Phyllis under the bus, but she has gone off the deep end (not unusual for Trump supporters, but Phyllis?!!).
